How Not to Respond to Virginia Tech-II
Fear has entered each of our minds as countless school shootings occur throughout our nation, and we want nothing more than to come up with ways to keep campus's more secure. The ideas may seem good at the time, but there is always a way for a determined shooter to make contact with students. The cell phone alert could reach the gunman, and a background check on incoming applicants would unneccessarily spend money some do not have. It is important to focus the time on student's mental health, as this causes outbursts on these campuses. Overall, we want to stay safe, but we will have to acheive that safety in ways of care, rather than a text message.
